CLEANTECH LATVIA receives guests from the RSE Kazvodkhoz, Kazakhstan

Earlier in May 2019, a team of CLEANTECH LATVIA experts was invited to a meeting with UNDP Kazakhstan to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the framework of project “Institutional Capacity Development and Awareness Raising for Improving Management of Irrigation Water Supply Systems and Drainage Networks in Almaty and Turkestan Regions”.

Our team presented its expertise and voiced preliminary proposals for the implementation of this project. At this meeting, it was also proposed to visit Latvia in order to demonstrate automation systems for various water bodies.

Over the week from 9th to 13th of December, 2019, our partners hosted specialists in irrigation systems from the regional branches of the republican state enterprise Kazvodkhoz.

For delegates, meetings were held with such state bodies as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia, and Jelgava and Ogre city Administrations, which provided extensive information on the legislation of the Republic of Latvia in the field of water management and protection.

Delegates also had the opportunity to inspect automated water infrastructure facilities and the use of billing and GIS systems for monitoring and managing water systems.

It should be noted that the UNDP Kazakhstan project is component D of the large-scale project “Restoration of irrigation and drainage systems in Kazakhstan” and is aimed at developing the potential of the Republican State Enterprise “Kazvodkhoz” and its branches in Almaty and Turkestan regions through the development of institutional capacity and improved management of irrigation water supply.

We thank all involved parties – the Latvian Embassy in Kazakhstan, ministries, municipalities and companies for their assistance and support during organization of this trip.

As well we thank the members of the delegates, the UNDP Kazakhstan team and the leadership of the RSE Kazvodkhoz and look forward to further cooperation with new partners!

Visit was supported by project “Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA” No.3.2.1.1/16/A/014.
