Growth in the Cluster project 2026-2029
Project: Growth of CLEANTECH LATVIA Cluster 2024 – 2026
The goal of the project is to develop the CLEANTECH LATVIA cluster network and promote mutual and cross-sectoral collaboration among its members—companies in the clean technology sector and organizations involved in research and knowledge dissemination. The project also aims to create new initiatives, internationalize, and advance research and innovation activities. Thus, the project will contribute to:
- Increasing the competitiveness and turnover of cluster members.
- Developing new products and technologies.
- Providing financial support for the internationalization of businesses.
- Increasing the volume of private investment in research and development.
Planned activities for the CLEANTECH LATVIA cluster under the project include:
- Experience exchange and knowledge transfer on innovations and latest technologies.
- Scaling up new or existing products, including for export markets.
- Activities that promote collaboration between companies and research and knowledge dissemination organizations.
- Support for outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship.
- Promotional activities.
- Sector development activities.
The project is effective from May 9, 2024, under contract No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/3/24/A/CFLA/011 with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFLA) for the implementation of the “CLEANTECH LATVIA” project, co-financed by the EU Recovery Fund (AF). The project will be implemented until June 30, 2026. The total project budget is EUR 514,551.76, with AF co-financing amounting to EUR 437,369.00.
Waste To Resources Latvia - boosting regional sustainability and circularity: 2021 - 2028 (LIFE Waste To Resources IP)
Project “Waste To Resources Latvia – boosting regional sustainability and circularity” (LIFE Waste To Resources IP) is implemented with the financial support of the LIFE Programme of the European Union and Latvian State Regional Development Agency.
The common goal of the Project is to reduce waste, which improves regeneration of materials and circulation and reduce the environmental and carbon footprint of the economy by thoroughly implementing the measures set out in the 2021-2028 Waste Management Plan.
CLEANTECH LATVIA in this project is responsible for development of industrial symbiosis platform for waste and support and consultancy to companies on attraction of additional funding.
The project is jointly implemented by a consortium of 22 partners, including CLEANTECH LATVIA, and its leading partner is the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development

L4G project : Your pathway to Southeast Asian markets 2025-2028
Leap4Growth will support SMEs in the Central Baltic region(CBR) to create new business opportunities and overcome obstacles they face expanding into Southeast Asian(SEA) markets. The project will focus on the Greater Bay Area (GBA) via Hong Kong and Vietnam as strategic gateways, due to their high growth potential and demand for innovation, which aligns with the strengths of our CB SMEs and their expressed export interest. Targeted SMEs are within Greentech and Healthtech, focusing on advanced digitalisation including cybersecurity and AI. The project will secure 20 sales contracts in the SEA region by creating a pool of 100 companies from 4 partnering countries(Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Sweden). The second goal is to foster cross border collaborations between the countries for on-boarded SMEs, partners, and local organizations.
Actions Supported:
- Conduct market analysis to identify and support SMEs to find new business opportunities in SEA markets.
- Develop support networks through collaborations between 4 partnering countries, business support organisations, industry experts, and regional authorities both on target markets and in the CBR.
- Create value propositions and offer selected SMEs up to 50 hours of mentoring to support their entry to SEA.
- Organise regular seminars/webinars on market-specific challenges and opportunities in CBR.
- Conduct business delegations for on-boarded SMEs for direct market exposure, networking and pre sales agreements.
- Support SMEs by inviting them to local networking activities that are connected to the Souteast Asian market. Or events that can benefit the SMEs cross-border collaboration such as Slush, Tech Arena, Latitude59 etc.
- Enhance awareness and share successes through a multi-channel communication strategy.

Advance4Growth - Bridging regional export connections to help Central Baltic SMEs grow and expand in the UK market
Advance4Growth supports SMEs in the Central Baltic region (CBR) to create new business
opportunities and overcome obstacles they face expanding into the UK market, Golden Triangle (London, Cambridge, Oxford).
The aim of the project is to secure 10 sales contracts in the UK by creating a pool of 60 companies from 3 partnering countries (Estonia, Latvia and Sweden). The second aim is to foster cross-border collaborations between the countries for on-boarded SMEs, partners, and local organizations.
Supported activities:
- Conduct market analysis to identify and support SMEs to find new business opportunities in the UK.
- Develop support networks through collaborations between 3 partnering countries – business support organizations, industry experts, and regional authorities both on target markets and in the CBR.
- Create value propositions and offer selected SMEs up to 25 hours of mentoring to support their entry to the UK..
- Organize regular seminars/webinars on market-specific challenges and opportunities in CBR.
- Organize inbound delegation to the CBR from UK market as well as creating delegations to the UK market, into Golden Triangle area.

Realized projects
Export Promotion Project "Bridging4Growth" 2023 – 2026
Bridging4Growth is a project co-financed by the Central Baltic Interreg program to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in conquering new export markets. The aim of the project is to promote collaboration among businesses, understanding of target markets and their research, preparation of companies for export, as well as mentor support in identifying and approaching potential clients in the USA and Canada (Great Lakes region), Brazil, and Uzbekistan. The main outcome of the project is to provide the necessary knowledge and trust among stakeholders to create cross-border consortia that support active enterprises, resulting in 20 new sales contracts. Project partners include the Tampere Region Economic Development Agency “Business Tampere” (Finland), Norrköping Science Park (Sweden), CLEANTECH LATVIA (Latvia), and Tallinn Science Park “Tehnopol” (Estonia). The total budget is EUR 1,449,000.
The project implementation period is from February 1, 2023, to January 31, 2026. The project is implemented with financial support from the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region transnational cooperation program and the European Union.
Development of Prerequisites for the Implementation of Industrial Symbiosis and Strengthening the Competence of the SES: 2024 – 2025
The aim of the project “Development of Prerequisites for the Implementation of Industrial Symbiosis and Strengthening the Competence of the SES” No. 1-08/95/2024 is to develop prerequisites for the implementation of industrial symbiosis in Latvia, as well as to strengthen the competence of the State Environmental Service (SES) in this field. This will promote sustainable resource use, waste reduction, and cross-sectoral cooperation among businesses.
Within the project framework, the following activities will be carried out:
- Development of framework, the following activities will be carried out ;
- Experiance exchange visit;
- Development of training program;
- Organization of 4 educational seminars;
- Marketing and publicity to promote the project

Protein Recovery from Agricultural Residues Using Insects and Creation of a New Circular Cycle: 2022 – 2025
CLEANTECH LATVIA is implementing a project under sub-measure 16.12: “Support for the Implementation of EIP Operational Group Projects for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability” of Measure 16 “Cooperation” of the Latvian Rural Development Program 2014-2020.
The project’s goal is to evaluate the potential for further use of plant-based agricultural and agricultural product processing residues in Latvia by utilizing insects as processors. This aims to simultaneously promote the development potential of the insect farming sector in Latvia and to assess the potential of using insects and the high-value proteins derived from them in poultry farming to enhance poultry welfare and productivity.
Project partners include: European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, SIA “Biomund”, SIA “Kabiņsala”, ”Latvijas jauno zemnieku klubs”.
Total budget: EUR 500,000.00

Sustainable rainwater management for climate change mitigation: 2023 – 2024
The aim of the project “Sustainable rainwater management for climate change mitigation ” Nr.1-08/103/2023 is to educate overall public and specialists, increasing their knowledge about sustainable rainwater management for climate change mitigating.
During the project the following activities will be implemented:
- renewing design guidelines and methodical instructions;
- developing first version of the Latvian standard on the use of rain gardens and bio-containers;
- organizing 4 educational seminars and 2 technical excursions for the exchange of practical experience;
- providing marketing and publicity to promote the project.
Total budget: 59,996 EUR

GreenOffShore Tech: 2021-2024
The Consortium comprising nine of Europe’s leading clusters, including cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA, and three inter-cluster and innovation management experts has been awarded a grant of 5 million euro from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme for the implementation of the EU project “GreenOffshoreTech”.
GreenOffshoreTech aims to support innovation in SMEs and fostering the development of the emerging Blue Economy industries by enabling the emergence of new cross-sectorial and cross-border value chains based on shared challenges and the deployment of key enabling technologies. This will result from the translation of advanced technologies among 8 sectors with strong synergies: offshore wind energy, offshore aquaculture, offshore oil and gas, waterborne transport, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and environmental technologies.
Implementing period: September 2021 – August 2024
Overall budget: € 5 253 231,25

Popularization of sustainable rainwater management solutions: 2022 - 2023
The purpose of the project “Popularization of sustainable rainwater management solutions” is to develop and improve professional knowledge and skills of the target audience – representatives from state, local governments and the private sector by strengthening their theoretical and practical knowledge in the implementation of rainwater management solutions by such topics as types of objects, technologies, plants and system monitoring. Within the framework of the project, 12 events were implemented for 6 different audiences and in different places, including 2 technical excursions to different cities and settlements of Latvian municipalities (various objects), which have implemented sustainable rainwater management solutions in practice. Capacity building for implementing investment projects in the fields of water supply and sewerage in Uzbekistan: 2021
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia has approved the implementation of the project “Capacity building for implementing investment projects in the fields of water supply and sewerage in Uzbekistan” submitted by CLEANTECH LATVIA!
The aim of the project is to strengthen the implementation capacity of investment projects in the field of water management, by raising the qualification of the specialists of the investment project implementation group in the field of water supply and sewerage and promoting higher efficiency in the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with Uzbekistan partner JSC “UZSUVTAMINOT”, which unites all water supply and sewerage services structural units in Uzbekistan, and CLEANTECH LATVIA representative office in Uzbekistan.
One of the main problems in Uzbekistan is the supply of drinking water, requiring constant monitoring and immediate measures to improve drinking water supply services. Most of Uzbekistan’s water and sanitation infrastructure was built during the central planning of the Soviet Union and has reached the end of its life, so it must either be renovated or completely replaced.
In view of the constant increase in population, construction of new residential areas, expansion of cities and settlements, the state and local governments must adopt a number of effective measures to radically improve the guaranteed water supply system. The aim of this system is to modernize and develop the water supply network, including water pipelines, pumping stations, distribution centers, based on the active introduction of modern energy and resource saving technologies. In solving such complex problems, the main role is given to the training of staff, which is the basis for the sustainable development of the entire water supply system.
The project envisages the implementation of a training course for capacity building of water management personnel in order to more successfully and efficiently implement investment projects in the fields of water supply and sewerage, as well as to ensure the provision of quality services to specialists in the water sector. In order to identify and summarize all the training materials implemented and planned so far by CLEANTECH LATVIA, the information will be identified by the keyword CleanTechHub.
The project will promote the development of a sustainable and international in-depth training system for leading water industry specialists and managers, as well as the introduction of modern educational technologies and distance learning methods in the educational process.
The project implementation time is from July 20, 2021 to November 30, 2021.
The total budget is EUR 50,991.58, of which EUR 40,000.00 is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and EUR 10,991.58 is co-financed by partners.
Co-Financing for the Project "Capacity Building of Industry Associations of Engineering Companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan": 2021
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of grant competition No. MFA-LV 93 “Support for Development and Global Education Projects Financed by the European Commission and Other International Financial Institutions in Specified Recipient Countries and in the Republic of Latvia,” provided co-financing up to 8% of the total costs for the project “Capacity Building of Industry Associations of Engineering Companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (ENGINE)”: 2021, co-financed by the European Commission, titled “Strengthening the Capacity of Engineering Companies’ Associations in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” for the period from 01.01.2021 to 10.12.2021.
The goal of the ENGINE project is to improve the services provided by industry associations in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to engineering companies by strengthening these associations’ capacity to implement international projects, developing a framework for engineer certification to ensure high standards in the implementation of investment projects, and involving micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the project and the development of their activities.
Modernization of Municipalities Public Services: 2020
CLEANTECH LATVIA has signed grant agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia for the implementation of the project “Modernization of Municipal Public Services”!
The project aims to strengthen the modernization of public services, the efficiency of this process and the future operation of public infrastructure in a sustainable and economically viable way in Uzbekistan.
Co-financing for the project "Capacity Building of Industry Associations of Engineering Companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan": 2020
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of grant competition No. MFA-LV 93 “Support for Development and Global Education Projects Financed by the European Commission and Other International Financial Institutions in Specified Recipient Countries and in the Republic of Latvia,” provided co-financing up to 8% of the total costs for the project “Capacity Building of Industry Associations of Engineering Companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (ENGINE)”: 2021, co-financed by the European Commission, titled “Strengthening the Capacity of Engineering Companies’ Associations in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” for the period from 01.01.2020 to 11.12.2020. Methodological instructions and design guidelines for the use of sustainable rainwater management solutions: 2020-2021
Continuing to develop the idea of previously implemented project “Development of regulatory enactments in the field of sustainable rainwater management” funded by Latvian Environmental Protection Fund in 2018, CLEANTECH LATVIA has received approval of another Latvian Environmental Protection Fund project application – “Methodological instructions and design guidelines for the use of sustainable rainwater management solutions”.
The aim of the project is to develop methodological guidelines for rainwater treatment solutions corresponding to the specifics of Latvia, applicable in various typical construction situations, including parking lots of shopping malls and offices, courtyards of apartment buildings, etc. In addition, practical design guidelines for specific solutions will be prepared.
To ensure public understanding of the materials created, working group meetings, 10 regional seminars and 2 video materials will be organized.
The project will be implemented in the period from 01.08.2020 to 30.09.2021
Total budget of the projekt is EUR 30 030,00, funded by Latvian Environmental Protection Fund
ENGINE: Capacity building of industry associations serving engineering companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: 2019-2023
CLEANTECH LATVIA on behalf of consortium has signed a grant contract with European Commission for the implementation of the project “Capacity building of industry associations serving engineering companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” in the framework of Central Asia Invest V grant program Boosting Small Business Competitiveness.
CLEANTECH LATVIA is the lead partner in the consortium with 2 other partners – UZACE (Engineering Consultants Association of Uzbekistan) and Kazakhstan SU Arnasy (Association of Water Supply and Sanitation Companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The project aims to improve the capacity of industry associations, provide multilateral and competitive services to civil engineering companies in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as introduce certification for engineers, in order to:
- share European knowledge and demonstrate successful experience of international experts in the field of civil engineering and certification of engineers;
- promote European and Central Asian cooperation;
- facilitate transfer of European high quality standards;
- boost capacity of business intermediaries to provide full support to SMEs;
- improve the prestige of engineering industry and raise the qualification of its specialists;
- break down stereotypical barriers and promote the involvement of women and young people in the acquisition of specific knowledge and skills.
The project is implemented from 19 December 2019 until 19 April 2023.

Capacity building in the Uzbek state administration for sustainable development: 2018
CLEANTECH LATVIA with the Ministry of International Affairs of Republic of Latvia has signed an agreement no. LV-79 to implement project “Capacity building in the Uzbek state administration for sustainable development” in the framework of Development Cooperation Grants Program.
Within the project, association organized 1 incoming visit from Uzbekistan to Latvia and 3 missions to Uzbekistan, including Tashkent, Fergana and Andijan.
During the project, experts provided master-classes on water and wastewater facility reconstruction projects, creation of environmentally friendly conditions for agricultural production, smart cities, waste disposal systems and resource optimization.
In total, over 150 experts from various sectors from Uzbekistan were trained by CLEANTECH LATVIA experts during this time. For several projects, concrete proposals were prepared which will allow further cooperation between CLEANTECH LATVIA and its partners from Uzbekistan.
Project was implemented from 29 May 2018 to 23 November 2018.
Development of normative acts in the field of sustainable rainwater management 2018
Association CLEANTECH LATVIA implements project “Development of legislation in the field of sustainable rainwater management”, no. 1-08 / 225/2018, funded by the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
The aim of the project is to prepare proposals for amendments to existing legislation and for the development of new legislation in the field of rainwater management that would promote sustainable management of rainwater, improving the resilience of populated areas to climate change and reducing water pollution.
The project is implemented from 1 May 2018 until 31 December 2018.
Latvian clean technologies cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA support for regional autonomies (hakimyats) to raise capacity of rural regions in Uzbekistan
In the framework of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Latvia implemented Development Co-operation Grant Program, CLEANTECH LATVIA together with partners from Latvia and Uzbekistan implements project on capacity building of regional Uzbekistan governments (hakimats) in rural areas of Uzbekistan.
CLEANTECH LATVIA will organize trainings for specialists and officials of three Uzbekistan governments (hakimats), in accordance with regional demands. The main aim is to raise the economic and ecological capacity of these regions.
Training will be conducted within themes, which play an important role in the welfare of today’s societies and in the competitiveness of the regions:
- effective natural resource management, planning of long-term development and economic prosperity of the region;
- effective water resource management, introducing with approaches and technological solutions for drinking water preparation and waste water treatment;
- municipal and household waste management, including planning of landfills and long-term investment projects implementation;
- household waste in cities and regions, competent planning of landfills, sorting, recycling and dumping, as well as biogas obtainment, modern technologies and their pros and cons. Preparation of projects to obtain investments
- Sustainable urban planning, efficient use of city resources, including accumulation and storage of storm waters, smart lightening and other important solutions for “smart” cities;
- agricultural waste recycling solutions, including using biogas to produce biological fertilizers and their further utilization in agriculture, electricity obtainment for the needs of private households and society and soil reclamation through the use of different remediation methods.
Previous experience for CLEANTECH LATVIA has proved that effective resource management planning and training of not only responsible officials and specialists but also citizens is a crucial factor for long-term regional development and economic prosperity. Therefore also after the project CLEANTECH LATVIA is going to cooperate with the leading specialist, offering support for Uzbekistan hakimats in their ambition to improve economic and ecological situation in the regions.
Project is being implemented from 1st of July to 30th of November, 2017.
Promotion of international competitiveness: 2017
Association “CLEANTECH LATVIA” signed a contract no. SKV-L-2017/103 on 22nd of February, 2017 with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency for receiving support in the framework of the measure “Promotion of international competitiveness”, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Project “Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA”: 2017 - 2020
On January 30th, 2017 Association CLEANTEH LATVIA concluded agreement No 3.2.1.1/16/A/014 with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency of the Republic of Latvia (CFCA) on the project “Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA”, which is co-financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is implemented in the framework of Clusters Program.
The aim of the project is to develop a cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA and promote its members and partners –entrepreneurs, research and educational institutions in clean technology industries –export capacity and competitiveness, implementation of innovations and cooperation in creating new products, technologies and services.
Some of the planned activities during the project:
- CLEANTECH LATVIA representation office opening in Kazakhstan
- Export target market studies
- Development of export plans
- Organization of visits for the business partners
- Attraction of financial instruments for development of new products or services
The implementation period of the project is until 31th of December, 2021, the total budget of the project – 558 348.22 EUR, from which ERDF co-financing – 474 595.98 EUR and CLEANTECH LATVIA co-financing – 83 752.24 EUR.
Project "Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance": 2016-2019
The association CleanTech Latvia is a partner in an INTERREG Project Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance, which unites blue biotechnology experts in the Baltic Sea region (BSR). Due to this Project, the resources of the BSR research institutions are now available to the representatives of the blue biotechnologists in the BSR. The aim of the Project is to facilitate and promote the commercialization of the products based on Baltic Sea resources.
Alliance project consistently and internationally unifies know-how form the project partners, to provide the needs of the blue biotechnology research, development and marketing activities. Along with the target users, SMEs and start-ups, the aim of the Alliance is to promote the growth of the blue biotechnology field by developing a routine for an effective use of the sea resources, infrastructure and know-how in the BSR.
Thanks to this project, already several companies and enterprises have received needed support, for a more successful progress of the product and company in the local and European market. The selection and admission of the ideas and companies will continue until the end of the project – year 2019. As well as the aim of the project partners is to stabilize the newly created platform, for a successful operation after the end of the project.

Strengthening the Central Baltic Region’s economic competitiveness on the markets of Central Asia and Russia: 2015-2018
CLEANTECH LATVIA in collaboration with the Finnish clusters – Finnish Water Forum and Green Net Finland – in the framework of European Structural and investment fund target „European Territorial cooperation” Central Baltic Sea Region Cross-border Cooperation Programme is implementing project „Central Baltic Cleantech Clusters expanding the East of EU markets” or CB2East (identification No. CB66).
The aim of the project is to strengthen Central Baltic region economic competitiveness, creating commercially oriented and mutually economically beneficial cooperation in the clean technology sector between clean technology clusters in Finland, Latvia, North West Russia and Central Asia. The priority areas of the project are sustainable energy efficiency and water inspection solutions.

The implementation period of the project: 1 September 2015 – 31 August 2018, the total funding of the project: 909 065 EUR, the European Structural and Investment Funds co-financing: 711 642 EUR.
Budget of CLEANTECH LATVIA in the project is 298 435 EUR, this amount consists of the European Structural and Investment Funds co-financing: 253 669 EUR, State budget co-financing: 14 921 EUR and CLEANTECH LATVIA financial contribution: 29 845 EUR.
Green Bridge Forum 2015
The Central Asian countries face major environmental challenges and are directly affected by climate change. They share similar constraints to water and energy resources. The EU-Central Asia Strategy highlights environmental and water management issues as one of key areas for intensified policy dialogue and enhanced cooperation between the EU and the Central Asia. The EU strategy for Central Asia and the Multi Annual Regional Indicative Programme for Central Asia (2014-2020) identify energy, environment and water as key areas for dialogue and cooperation between the EU and Central Asia. Latvia is willing to contribute to addressing these challenges by organising a high-level forum during its Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2015.
The main objective of the Green Bridge Forum is to strengthen environmental governance and enhance cooperation between the EU and Central Asian countries in water management, energy efficiency, renewable and alternative energies as well as in reliable, sustainable, low-carbon technologies, to facilitate green growth activities across the EU and Central Asia region.
The Green Bridge Forum 2015 was a meeting place for high-level politicians, government agencies, the leading innovators and researchers, experts in clean technology, business representatives, manufacturers and investors as well as opinion leaders of the EU, Central Asian and other countries. More than 300 participants were joined from 21 countries were visited GREEN BRIDGE FORUM 2015.
High Level Forum “Building the Bridge to Clean Technologies between European Union and Central Asian countries” were held in Jurmala, Latvia, April 15-18, 2015 and CLEANTECH LATVIA was official partner of consortium, responsible for forum content and study tours.
Exchange of the best practices between the environmental organizations in Nordic countries and CLEANTECH LATVIA: 2015
In the framework of Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Business and Industry from January 2015 to April 2015 CLEANTECH LATVIA was implementing project “Building the Bridge between the Clean Technologies Nordic-Baltic and Central Asian Countries”, co-financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The aim of the project was to exchange the best practices between the environmental organizations in Nordic countries and CLEANTECH LATVIA, to jointly seek further ways for more effective and successful entry into the Central Asia region. Focus areas of the project was clean technologies (water management, energy efficiency, soil treatment, waste recycling, etc.), aiming to accumulate specific experience and knowledge of each of the parties. During the project three outgoing visits to Denmark, Norway and Finland and one incoming visit of Nordic partners to Latvia were carried out.
In the result of this project, CLEANTECH LATVIA in partnership with Finnish Water Forum and Green Net Finland created a common project application within INTERREG Central Baltic programme. Project „Central Baltic Cleantech Clusters expanding the East of EU markets” was approved on 1 September 2015 and will be implemented until August 2018.
Survey – municipal sewage sludge quality in municipal water service provider productions, proposals for sludge treatment and advises for utilization: 2014
CLEANTECH LATVIA in cooperation with Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” and Latvian water and wastewater works association from November 2014 to December 2014 implemented market research “Survey – municipal sewage sludge quality in municipal water service provider productions, proposals for sludge treatment and advises for utilization”.
During the market research project partner visits to Estonia and Poland were carried out to evaluate and study the most successful experience of different sewage management companies in the region. During study tours, participants visited sites and took part in discussions with industry experts. In the framework of the project, several options for sewage sludge treatment and their potential utilization were analysed.
In conclusion, proposal (including technologies selection algorithm) on the management and further use of sewage sludge were prepared for further use by policy-makers and regional governments.
The total project budget: 7 611 EUR, project was financed by: Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
GREEN BRIDGE FORUM 2013
Conference “The transition to “a green economy” through the introduction of environmentally – friendly technologies” in the framework of Latvia – Kazakhstan collaboration was held in Riga, Latvia from 5 to 7 December, 2013.
The aim of the conference was to consider the opportunities of the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvia in promotion of “green economy” and “green” business. The three-day event was organized by Green Bridge Forum in close collaboration with CLEANTECH LATVIA (Clean Technology Cluster of Latvia), Industrial Energy Efficiency Cluster of Latvia and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Republic of Latvia.
The conference brought together politicians, non-governmental organisations and entrepreneurs working with environment issues from Latvia and Kazakhstan. GREEN BRIDGE FORUM 2013 conference had a positive impact on setting policy and assistance priorities in the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvian organisations and companies in the promotion of the “green economy” and “green” business.
Approximately 100 participants took part in Green Bridge Forum 2013: representatives of ministries, municipalities (akimats), corporate executives, business organizations of Kazakhstan and Latvia. The discussions, which were guided by the presentations of over 30 speakers, were at times lively and showed expressed commitment to the policies and principles of Green Economy.
Clean Technology Cluster: 2012-2015
The most important project “Clean Technology Cluster” (further – CLEANTECH LATVIA) was implemented during the period September 2012 – December 2015.
The purpose of the project was to foster and promote Latvian Cleantech companies, organizations, joint ventures, research and educational institutions. Over the project Cluster facilitated recognition of enterprises, their products and services both in Latvia and in the world, provided communication among entrepreneurs, improved of the value chain and efficiency, transferred of knowledge and practical experience from science to business.
CLEANTECH LATVIA is a non-governmental cluster organization launched to foster and promote Latvian Cleantech companies, organizations, joint ventures, research and educational institutions. Established in 2012, the cluster facilitates recognition of enterprises, their products and services both in Latvia and in the world, communication among entrepreneurs, improvement of the value chain and efficiency, transfer of knowledge and practical experience from science to business.
CLEANTECH LATVIA was committed to grow a vibrant clean technology industry and business community in Latvia by using regional strengths through innovation, research, new technology development and facilitation of international business opportunities. In other words raising awareness about green industry issues important to entrepreneurs and society.
The establishment of cluster was supported by European Union structural funds; Latvian Investment and Development Agency managed program implementation and monitoring, in the framework of the contract No. L-KAP-12-0009. The total project budget was 601 614 EUR, of which 522 415 EUR was ERDF co-financing and 79 199 EUR CLEANTECH LATVIA financial contribution.
Project were successfully finished and we proud to announce that during the project 68 marketing activities covering 20 different countries were organized, including: 16 trade missions; participation in 10 conferences; CLEANTECH LATVIA stand in 4 exhibitions; 6 sale seminars; 10 workshops on various topics of clean technologies and 22 individual foreign visits. To provide fruitful entry into the markets 2 foreign market and 2 industry studies were carried out. To promote R&D activities 10 feasibility studies supporting development of new products and technologies were done.
At the end of 2015, CLEANTECH LATVIA has 33 members – 5 scientific and higher education institutions and 28 enterprises.
