The Working Group on Environmental Governance and Climate Change of the EU-Central Asia Platform for Environment and Water Cooperation has launched its meeting in Tashkent. This meeting will be conducted on July 8 – 10, 2015, gathering over 80 participants that represent environment and water agencies, foreign ministries, regional and international organisations and the civil society.
This meeting is also attended by Latvian experts from clean technology cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA. Its representative Dina Eglite introduced the audience with the development of environmentally friendly technologies in Latvia and the possibilities of adaptation for the Central Asian region. As one of the major events of Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU in clean technology field was mentioned Green Bridge Forum held in mid-April 2015 in Jurmala which was contributed to raise mutual awareness and closer collaboration with countries of Central Asia region.
Cleantech Latvia representatives are visiting Uzbekistan with the intention to expand its activities in the region also – the cluster intends to open a branch in Tashkent this autumn. This question was raised at a meeting with the Ambassador Edgars Bondars. Launch of the CLEANTECH LATVIA branch would promote Latvian experience in the use of environmental technologies in Uzbekistan, such as water and wastewater treatment.
