PILOT COURSE ON INCREASING EFFICIENCY TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF TOP MANAGERS OF WATER SYSTEMS COMPANIES

The market research carried out in 2020 in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan showed that top managers of water services companies need to strengthen their administrative and technical capacity in such fields as personnel management, technologies of water and waste water treatment, as well as modern technologies in digitalization and automation of the processes.

Therefore, cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA together with its project partners the Association of Engineers Consultants in Uzbekistan and “Kazakhstan Su Arnasy” successfully organized a 32-hours pilot training seminars “Increasing Efficiency in Water Supply and Wastewater Systems Companies” in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan within the project ENGINE with a total number of more than 120 participants.

The pilot training course consisted of three training modules. Module 1 dealt with the analysis of functions of companies for the waters supply and waste water system in populated areas. Module 2 was dedicated to modern management of human resources and economic efficiency of the company. Module 3 described different digitalization methods, automation processes and technological control systems. For the provision of this pilot training course a pool of 5 international and 3 local experts from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was created.

In Kazakhstan the course was run October 18 – November 8 with a total number of 40 participants. Besides 5 international experts from Latvia and Russia, there were two local experts Anna Shevyakova and Nuriddin Jarbolov. The participants were the top and medium level managers from different large, medium and small water services companies, business companies, educational establishments and state enterprises. In total 27 participants who completed 80% of the entire course received the certificates of international appearance.

In Uzbekistan the course was run October 20 – November 9 with a total number of 84 participants, 61 of which represented different branch offices of the largest water services company in Uzbekistan “UZSUVTAMINOT”. Besides 5 international experts from Latvia and Russia, there was a local expert, academician Irina Okhremenko. The participants were the top and medium level managers from different large, medium and small water services companies, business companies, educational establishments and state enterprises. In total 80 participants who completed 70% of the entire course received the certificates of international appearance.

The results of the questionnaires completed by all participants after the training course show that more then 80% respondents consider the organization, contents and trainers of course to be good and excellent, and they would recommend this course to others to be run on commercial basis.

Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA sincerely hopes that with the help of the ENGINE project employees of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of water supply and wastewater system, representatives of commercial service providers and associations in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will gain not only new knowledge in the water industry. These are new opportunities that will take the industry to a new level of development.
