Business visit to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to promote advanced environmentally friendly technologies was held on 03-07 October 2016
CLEANTECH LATVIA, which is one of the founders of the Finnish-Latvian meta-cluster BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE on 03-07 October held a business visit to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Within the framework of this visit a business forum to promote innovative environmentally friendly technologies in Kyrgyzstan was held in Bishkek on 04-05 October. In turn, in Kazakhstan a similar business forum was held in Almaty on 06-07 October.
On 22-23 August 2016 CLEANTECH LATVIA hosted BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE Partner meeting and Project Steering Group meeting in Riga, Latvia.
During these days we had a pleasure to welcome and listen to Ambassador of Finland in Latvia Mr. Olli Kantanen, Project Manager of Competitive Economy Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020 Joint Secretariat Mr. Ülari Alamets, representatives from Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia and Finnish Chamber of Commmerce and of course several Finish and Latvian cleantech companies – Finnish Energy Club, GTK/Geologocal Survey of Finland, Pöyry Oy, VEGA 1 Ltd, Ekostandarts Tehnoloģijas Ltd, Auravia Latvia Ltd, BAO JSC, Karme Filtrs Ltd and Biotehniskais centrs JSC.
Municipal solid waste (MSW) sorting station in Latvia, produced by our partner Technobalt Group, is biggest in Baltics.
Thanks to modern sorting technology the majority of the municipal waste is reused. Plant is sorting out many different materials e.g. biodegradable waste for producing biogas and different palstic materials (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP, mixed plastic) to produce RDF-fuel. Special magnetic separator is sorting out balck and nonferrous metals. Input capacity of the plant is 300 000 tons per year.

In July 2016, in Riga, is planneda third meeting ofLatvia-Turkmenistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
International relations manager at CLEANTECH LATVIA Evija Pudane had a meeting with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia region Peter Burian. The conversation was also attended by the Political Adviser to the EUSR for Central Asia Raimonds Vingris and Eastern Europe and Central Asia DepartmentSecond Secretary Gints Serafinovics.
Trade mission of Cleantech enterprises was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 29 to 31 March 2016. Mission was organized by CLEANTECH LATVIA and following Latvian and Finish partners were represented: LTD Karme Filtrs, LTD Vega1, LTD Technobalt, LTD General Energy Group, Doranova Oy, Ferroplan Oy and Kaukointernational Oy.
Participation of CLEANTECH LATVIA at international ecological forum Baltic Sea Days in Saint-Petersburg
XVII International Environmental Forum «Baltic Sea Day» was held on 22-23 March 2016 in St. Petersburg, Russia. One of the focuses of the Forum was the Round Table “Efficient use of energy and water – best practices of cleantech clusters of Baltic region”. In the framework of the EU project “CB2East” BALTIC CLEANTECH ALLIANCE members – Finnish companies “Pöyry Oy”, “Oilon Oy” and “Onninen Oy” and Latvian – “Karme filtrs”, “General Energy Group” and Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” shared their experience and knowledge in the field of energy efficiency and water resources.» Read more
On 22 March 2016 the association CLEANTECH received the final payment of financial support in the framework of the project Clean Technology Cluster, Con. No. L-SSP-12-0009, and in this wayfinalizing project closure.
The project objective was to bring together Latvian clean technology companies, universities and research institutes with the experience, knowledge and technologies and ensure a common approach to the global market by promoting the exchange of information, attraction of investments and foreign market entry.
On 27 January CLEANTECH LATVIA experts held a meeting with fund management company ZGI Capital (ZGI) about possible investment in member companies of CLEANTECH LATVIA.
ZGI got acquainted with the members of CLEANTECH LATVIA and their interests in export markets, as well as with potential of growth and interest in attraction of financial resources to ensure a high rate development. ZGI showed a particular interest to the following companies: LTD General Energy Group, LTD Auravia Latvia, LTD BELSS, JSC Biotehniskais Centrs, LTD EkoStandarts Tehnoloģijas, LTD Eko Osta, LTD KARME FILTRS, LTD VEGA 1 and LTD WATEX.
At the moment some companies are discussing opportunities for cooperation.
ZGI Capital was founded in 2005 and since that has invested in more than 10 projects in different industries. They have more than 15 investors, including local and foreign private investors, institutional investors, such as Development Financial Institution Altum, SEB Group, First Closed Pension Fund and European Regional Development Fund.» Read more
Project Partners Meeting and Steering Group Meeting – in the framework of the CB2EAST project was held on 26 January 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.
On November 17 CB2East project partners Finnish Water Forum, Gren Net Finland and CleanTech Latvia gathered its partners and other interested parties to the new projects’ kick-off event which took place in Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo, Vantaa, Helsinki, Finland. Overall the kick-off event gathered more than 20 industry representatives and entrepreneurs from Finland and Latvia.» Read more

In the international exhibition in Almaty CLEANTECH LATVIA receives the organizers’ and visitors’ appreciation
On September 16 – 18 the international specialized exhibition “Ecotech 2015” took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. For the first time Latvian Clean Technology Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA participated in the exhibition whose stand was popular among the visitors of the exhibition and received the honor of the exhibition organizers “Debut of the Year”. Recycling, renewable energy sources and water treatment technologies raised the most of visitors’ interest.» Read more
Goods news for CLEANTECH LATVIA team – project concept on joint marketing activities with Finnish Water Forum un GreenNet Finland in the Central Asian markets to promote Latvian and Finnish water companies` export opportunities has been approved for funding by the Steering Committee (SC) of the Central Baltic programme in its meeting on August 25 – 26, 2015.
In order to this a project “Central Baltic Cleantech Clusters expanding to East of EU markets” or CB2East has been established and to start it off a project kick-off meeting will be organized on November 2, 2015 in Helsinki, Finland.» Read more
