Sewage sludge quality

CLEANTECH LATVIA in cooperation with Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” and Latvian water and wastewater works association from November 2014 to December 2014 implemented market research “Survey – municipal sewage sludge quality in municipal water service provider productions, proposals for sludge treatment and advises for utilization”.

During the market research project partner visits to Estonia and Poland were carried out to evaluate and study the most successful experience of different sewage management companies in the region. During study tours, participants visited sites and took part in discussions with industry experts. In the framework of the project, several options for sewage sludge treatment and their potential utilization were analysed.

In conclusion, proposal (including technologies selection algorithm) on the management and further use of sewage sludge were prepared for further use by policy-makers and regional governments.
