On September 16 – 18 the international specialized exhibition “Ecotech 2015” took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. For the first time Latvian Clean Technology Cluster CLEANTECH LATVIA participated in the exhibition whose stand was popular among the visitors of the exhibition and received the honor of the exhibition organizers “Debut of the Year”. Recycling, renewable energy sources and water treatment technologies raised the most of visitors’ interest.
In the opening ceremony of the exhibition and a traditionally included conference high officials of Kazakhstan as well as the Latvian Ambassador in the Republic of Kazakhstan Jurijs Pogrebņaks took part. This year during the conference “Strategic development of waste management in Kazakhstan” the issues of reforming the waste management industry were discussed in connection with proposed revisions and updates of the Kazakhstan legislation, the current state of the waste recycling industry, extended producer responsibility, energy from waste. With presentations in the conference partners of CLEANTECH LATVIA – representatives of “Technobalt” Ltd. and “General Energy Group” Ltd. – shared their experience and knowledge on the topic.
To introduce visitors more with the experience of Latvian companies in the field of environmental technologies on the second day of the exhibiton CLEANTECH LATVIA in cooperation with Kazakhstan Business Council for Sustainable Development (КАПУР) and the GREEN BRIDGE FORUM organized a seminar. The seminar included themes of environmental protection and water treatment facilities, experience sharing and knowledge transfer from CLEANTECH LATVIA and its partners. The seminar and its subsequent discussion was well attended by industry representatives and professionals which resulted in a meaningful exchange of views and experience on the role of environmental technologies both in Latvian and Kazakhstan.
CLEANTECH LATVIA, offering their expertise for development of Kazakhstan water management, entered into negotiations with the Kazakh water association of companies and organizations on closer cooperation on innovative water technology project implementation.
Currently Kazakhstan is actively working on waste recycling development in order to upgrade Kazakhstan waste management quality, environmental conservation and sustainability. In this area in the period ahead a meaningful state and local government support is foreseen which is a very important aspect to improve the situation and to start practical work on new projects.
The exhibition “Ecotech 2015” is the main specialized exhibition in Kazakhstan and Central Asia during which a series of round tables discussions and seminars also take place thus becoming the main environmental technology event in the region. This year’s exhibition gathered together around 3,500 entrepreneurs and industry professionals from around the world who work in waste and water management, as well as gas, water, and soil remediation and energy efficiency.
